Institutional Supports  
  Institutional support project of the fishery community of Katech and Adina to promote a better integration of CBOs in local development and to support implementation of the four beach seine community projects for improved livelihoods of fisheries communities in Katech and Adina.

Objective: To assist the development of the organisations of the Katech and Adina community and assist them with an assessment and a development plan in the context of functions of management organisation for their resource and for the development of the community

Duration:             18 months, approved in June 2002

Beneficiaries: The fishery community of Adina, Katech; the area councils and district councils of Adina and Katech

Budget:             US$ 20,050

What aspect of policy dialogue the project sets out to inform: Assist the communities to influence use of local development funds and to strengthen collaboration between micro-meso and macro level on the use of the fisheries resource and application of the authorised fishing gear and practices (CCRF, article 8.4, 8.5) and strengthening of the fisheries organisation and linking them in a sustainable way to meso level actors.

Available information on progress: The study on Organisation assessment is in progress and a development plan in the context of functions of management organisation is in preparation.
