The photographic library is an archive containing photographs of SFLP activities in fisheries communities in all the 25 participating countries. The classification of the photographs is based on the Sustainable Livelihood Approach (SLA).  

The reproduction, publication of photos is authorised without any need for a formal request on the condition that: (i) credit - SFLP -  is given to the source and (ii) copies are not reproduced for commercial use.

 
 
 
 
 
 

A-    Natural capital

Under "natural capital", are photographs relating to natural resources e.g. fisheries resources, mangrove swamps, water bodies, lakes, etc. The photographs illustrating the external factors that impact on the livelihoods of the fisheries communities are also considered under this item: the environmental and ecological contexts, seasonality and climatic effects (degradation, pollution, destruction of the habitat, coastal erosion, loss of mangrove swamps and other plant cover, etc.).

B-    Physical capital

"Physical capital" covers fishing instruments, boats, outboard engines, fish processing equipment, ice boxes, storage plants, wharves and jetties, landing sites, fish smoking centres and stoves, ice manufacturing machines, etc.

C-    Social capital       top

The photographs under "social capital" focus on community organisation, social and economic groups within fisheries communities, as well as activities in support of consultation and dialogue towards conflict resolution, enhancement of the planning process and the sustainable management of resources, improvement of marketing, etc.

D-    Human Capital

"Human capital" covers photographs illustrating the technical knowledge of fisheries communities, as well as training provided to build up capacities and skills in such areas as fishing techniques and practices, processing and conservation of fisheries products, savings and credit management. Activities in the area of education, health, and potable water management also come under this item.

E-     Livelihoods strategy    top

Photographs under this item illustrate activities implemented by the communities to improve food security and their livelihoods. Activities involved are directly related to fisheries, conservation and development of fisheries products, alternative economic activities or income generating activities.

F-          top

Photos of seminars, workshops and all other events organised by the SFLP in participating countries. SFLP/SLA participatory diagnosis, interviews, communication tool-kits, know-how demonstration sessions are also included in this item.
